BME Group Project

We have been successful in obtaining funding so that we can recruit and train BME Group volunteers to act as advocates (DLA, AA etc) befrienders, provide information and advice, out of hours contact and general outreach to help those with a limited knowledge of English obtain the care they deserve. We will also provide these volunteers with course accredited training aimed at enabling them to progress both personally and professionally. This is a three year project funded by: Bridge House Trust, The Big Lottery, (further three year funding granted), Trust for London Awards for All as well as other grant giving organisations. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to all these organisations for having faith in our work.

Black & Minority Ethnic Volunteer Project

We are piloting a project in the London Borough of Enfield and surrounding areas to help those affected by the debilitating condition of ME/CFS, specifically those from black & minority ethnic backgrounds.

  • Volunteers help combat the isolation of sufferers and carers through drop in sessions, advice, advocacy, befriending and outreach services.
  • Working at members’ homes or in the office, hours to suit.
  • Expenses paid, training and ongoing support provided.
  • Accredited training after 6 month period for personal and professional progression.

A CRB check will be required.

We are particularly looking for Volunteers from BME groups - useful languages: Somali, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali, Turkish, Greek, French

Please telephone Mirna Peach on 020 8373 6298 for further information and application form.
